Summary: The Live City Events Drug Compliance course is designed to train employees in the identification of drug overdoses and possession at their upcoming Goldstrike Festival event. A Storyline prototype of the interactive training course accompanies this Instructional Design Document.
Challenge: As a result of drug and alcohol intoxication - resulting in three overdose fatalities - the Live City Events organization is in jeopardy of losing their positive rapport with Las Vegas and ability to host future events in this city. Live City Events wants a mobile solution for their 5,000 employees to meet drug and alcohol compliance training - with some employees being hired within days of the event. The training should also encourage employees to be invested in the training and the safety of Goldstrike Festival patrons.
Solution: The Storyline course fulfills the need to meet drug compliance by providing an interactive experience for users. The course simulates the event spaces found at the Goldstrike Festival and the actions experienced by those overdosing from drugs. It not only simulates the Goldstrike Festival event spaces, but also simulates scanning the crowd for signs of overdose. Users also discover different types of drugs on scene that may have contributed to the overdose. A scenario-based assessment enables users to practice their overdose identification skills, contacting medical professionals, and identifying the presence of drugs at events. The #BeTheLeprechaun campaign positively influences users to "Be the Leprechaun" by being on the lookout for clues left by the leprechaun to identify overdose signs. Learners collect gold coins in a series of modules and scenarios as they learn and practice their skills in this training.
Results: The completion of the drug compliance course will result in less hospitalizations as a result of intoxication and overdoses - and zero fatalities. Learners will be more invested in the safety of patrons, the mission and vision of Live City Events, and the importance of their job with the positive #BeTheLeprechaun message.
